Yes. PictureNamer is free to download with no credit card required. The free plan includes photo sessions, folder organization, renaming, duplicate cleanup, metadata tagging, and EverStamp — supported by occasional ads. Upgrade to Personal or Pro for additional features including Photo Reports, Secret Vault, watermarking, and an ad-free experience. You can try the Pro plan free for 14 days at any time.
Start a New Photo Session before heading to the job site. PictureNamer creates a named folder for the job and any photos you take go directly into it — no sorting later. You can also import existing photos from your device gallery into any folder. Organize by project, date, client, or location. Everything stays on your device — no cloud account required.
A Photo Session is the fastest way to keep work and project photos organized from the moment you take them. A New Photo Session lets you create a folder before you start shooting, so new photos are saved into the right place automatically. It is useful for vacations, job sites, inspections, quotes, listings, and other photo-heavy workflows. You can also customize the button name — whether it's a New Quote, New Patient, New Job Site, New Project or any description you need, simply customize the button.
Image Tags add visible tags and details directly to the image so important context stays attached when shared. This is helpful when metadata may be stripped by social media platforms, email tools, or other sharing services. Image Tags adds a small strip in dark or light tones pulled from the camera metadata. This is great for embedding keywords, image descriptions, locations, titles, or whatever you want to stick with the image. No more worries about social media stripping your searchable content. This feature is available through Image Tags on the home screen.
Open any folder in PictureNamer and tap the print icon at the top of the screen. Add a title, description, and any notes — then generate a clean PDF report containing all the photos in that folder. Share it by email, save it for your records, or print it on site. Photo Reports are available on Personal and Pro plans. Free users can preview the feature and upgrade with one tap.

Vault lets you protect selected folders with PIN-based access. You can also use stealth mode to keep private folders less visible — you can even remove the Vault menu item from the home screen entirely. There are special settings for Vault in the Settings menu that can be accessed by PIN. This gives you more control over sensitive images on your device.
With iOS, when you have "Optimize iPhone Storage" selected, the full-resolution original image lives in iCloud and only a small space-saving thumbnail is stored locally on your device. For some functions we can work with the thumbnail, but for others we must pull the full original from iCloud — which can take anywhere from 10 seconds to over 60, depending on your connection and the image size. If you see this happening, your phone or app is not frozen — it is simply downloading the original from iCloud.
Yes. Pro users can watermark images with text or a logo, adjust placement and styling, preview the result, and save watermark templates for reuse. Batch tools can also apply a watermark to an entire folder at once.
Yes — PictureNamer includes a free duplicate photo finder on all plans including the free tier. It uses perceptual image hashing to find near-identical photos — not just exact copies. It also catches burst photos taken within 60 seconds of each other. Most duplicate finder apps charge a subscription fee. Ours is free. Find it under Cleanup on the home screen.
This can happen after an app update when the connection between your folders and your photo library needs to refresh. PictureNamer repairs this automatically each time the app starts. If photos are still showing as gray, go to Settings, tap the Backup section header 7 times to reveal support tools, then tap Build PN Library from Disk. This re-links your folders without removing any images. If the issue persists, visit picturenamer.com/support and we will help you resolve it directly.

You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app — open PictureNamer, go to Settings, and tap Delete Account. If you no longer have access to the app, you can request deletion through our contact form instead. No account login is required for either method.
